1memories for Elizabeth Mary Lee
We met when we were only 16 at Batley Art College. She was so creative and talented. She had a reserved humour that flourished when in the company of my late husband Bryan who also attended Batley Art College. She was also classy although you wouldn't have thought so when she allowed me to cut her hair and she went home with only one side cut. Our friendship continued when we left college resulting in Bryan and I being witnesses at her wedding. She never forgot that Bryan was still finishing my dress on the way to the Registry Office and still my modesty was not intact and caused a few stares in the Quarry Inn at Horbury. We had so many wild and fun times together. We were quite a formidable duo. She must have despaired of me. We were like the odd couple. I was flamboyant and Mary was subdued in appearance, not really wanting to be noticed. When we were out people would say to her " are you with her". Every where we went and everything we did became a comedy sketch.. We had so many great times together and I hope that I provided adventures that she may not otherwise have experienced. I am so sad that we lost touch and do feel that I was responsible for that, but I now want to send my sincere gratitude for all the amazing memories that you have given me and my beautiful daughters . You were a true legend in their lives and I know that you have inspired them in so many ways.
